Tomas Berdych (ATP #71) will open Dubai campaign against Aljaz Bedene (ATP #83) born 18 July 1989 is a professional tennis player from Slovenia. He was naturalised British and played with this nationality from 2015 to 2017, returning to represent Slovenia in 2018.

Update: Tomas Berdych will open against LL Ilya Ivashka who replaces Aljaz Bedene in the draw. Ilya Ivashka, born 24 February 1994, is a Belarusian tennis player who primarily plays on the ATP Challenger Tour. Ivashka has a career high ATP singles ranking of 81 achieved 28 January 2019. He also has a career high ATP doubles ranking of 340 achieved on 15 August 2016. Additionally, Ivashka has won 5 ITF singles titles and 3 ITF doubles titles. In Davis Cup, Ivashka has represented the Belarusian Davis Cup team and has a W/L record of 8–6.
