Tomas Berdych, Wimbledon runner-up in 2010, needed four sets to beat France Jeremy Chardy and he will face Ryan Harrison after the American saw off Borna Coric in straight sets.


Berdych Advances to Second Round

Tomas Berdych was tested by Jeremy Chardy in their two hour, 22-minute match, but the No.11 seed prevailed 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(4), 6-4. The 2010 runner-up hit 47 winners and capitalised on both of his break point chances to advance to the second round, where he will face American Ryan Harrison.
